This morning, Twin Falls High School (TFHS) welcomed veterans, service members, and first responders to its campus for the annual Service Brunch, an event hosted by the student councils of both TFHS and Canyon Ridge High School (CRHS). As part of Service Bowl Week, the brunch brought together students, athletes, and community members to honor those who have served our country and protect our community.
The football players from both high schools joined their student councils in serving breakfast to the honored guests, creating a heartfelt connection between students and local service members. The event highlighted the community's gratitude for the sacrifices made by veterans and active-duty service members, while also encouraging the students to reflect on the importance of service and giving back.
“This event is a cornerstone of Service Bowl Week, and we’re always proud of the way our students come together to recognize and serve those who’ve dedicated themselves to our country,” said Katie Ladwig, Student Council Advisor at TFHS. “It’s an opportunity for our students to learn about the value of service and show appreciation in a meaningful way.”
“The Service Brunch is something we look forward to every year. Not only is it a great event to honor those who serve in our community, but it’s an opportunity for our students to hear their stories and see firsthand the impact they have here in Twin Falls and beyond.” said Mick Carter, Student Council Advisor at CRHS. “It is also a great way for students from both schools to come together with one heart and goal and serve side by side.”
The Service Brunch is one of many activities held during Service Bowl Week, which will culminate in the highly anticipated TFHS vs. CRHS football game on Friday, September 20, at 7 p.m. at Canyon Ridge High School. The game, a spirited cross-town rivalry, is more than just a competition on the field—it’s a celebration of community, unity, and service.
